What this site is. An independent editorial guide to furniture construction and buying, written from experience and research. It is general information, not a professional inspection, valuation or appraisal, and it is not a substitute for examining a piece yourself or for advice from a qualified conservator, surveyor or valuer.

Accuracy. Considerable care is taken to be accurate, and corrections are made when errors are pointed out. Even so, manufacturing practices change, terminology drifts, and specific pieces vary between production runs. No guarantee is given that everything here is current or applies to a particular item. Decisions you make about a purchase are yours.

Independence. This site is not affiliated with any furniture manufacturer, retailer or trade body. It does not accept payment for reviews, rankings or featured placement, and it does not publish sponsored articles. Some outbound links may earn a commission; this never determines what is written or what is recommended, and it changes nothing about the assessment of any piece.

Copyright. The text on this site is the property of its author. You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link. Reproducing whole pages, or using the content to train or fine-tune a model, requires written permission. Photographs are licensed from their respective photographers and are not covered by any permission granted for text.
